Game 6 - Oakland Athletics
We arrived in Oakland a few hours before game time so we took the opportunity to grill out. Because our schedule has been so hectic, we really haven't grilled as much as I would like. As soon as we pulled into the Coliseum parking lot, it was apparent the game was going to be quiet. It felt like the next closest car was a city block away.
If you look closely in the background of the above picture, you can see rows upon rows of seats in the parking lot. It looked like they removed these from the Coliseum and covered the area with a tarp. As we found out later, I think there were more people in the parking lot seats than at the actual game.
The two positives we took away from Oakland was that they were playing Albert Pujols and the Angels again and that we had first row seats because no one was there! I think more people came to our high school baseball games than were at this game. Hard to imagine they are going to put out a competitive team in the future with this stadium and fan base. It will be interesting to see if the city builds them a new stadium or if they relocate.
Big Jim did not appreciate Oakland and it shows in his rating:
Pros: Great seats because no one else showed up.
Cons: Ballpark, team.
