Amarillo by Morning

After spending the night in Elk City, Oklahoma, we packed up early this morning and headed to Phoenix through Amarillo, Texas. I was able to get a 20 mile ride in this morning before we headed out. Training for this race is going to take some creativity while on the road, but I think I'll manage fine.

We hit the huddle house for breakfast before we took off in Elk City. Sort of reminds me of a clean Waffle House. For me, there is nothing better than breakfast at a dinner. It's my favorite meal of the day. Unfortunately, because the food was a bit greasy, I have a feeling it's going to be 'Huddle Bathroom' for some passengers later this evening...

And in the not so fun category, I had my first experience with filling up this monster. Unbeknownst to me, Chase Bank has a $105.00 limit on gas purchases by credit card before they automatically shut your card down. I went through this THREE (yes, $315.00) times before I had the sense to ask the cashier at the gas station. He assured me this was the case, as he 'spent 7 years working for Chase Bank.' Needless to say, after this trip, I'll be looking to buy back my Prius.

  1. Why don't you just ride out early and have Ma pick you up on the side of the highway or at the nearby rest area? After all: "Highway rest stops are the gay bath houses of the 90s."
