See you in Phoenix

And we're off! Last night, we left Springfield around 10 p.m. with a fully loaded motor home. We had such a late start because the orientation on driving and operating a 40 ft motor home takes some time! Our goal the first night was to get settled into the coach and camp somewhere on the west side of St. Louis. We ended up in Crestwood, MO at a Walmart parking lot. We quickly realized this won't be our last Walmart of the trip!

On a side note, driving one of these motorhomes isn't as bad as it looks. It does take some time getting acquainted with the various generators, tanks, switches, etc, but once you're moving it is pretty easy. However, the first real driving test came quickly. Around midnight, we were driving through downtown St. Louis and of course everything was down to one lane, or more likely a half a lane. It seemed like I had 6 inches on each side to make it through two concrete embankments...I closed my eyes like any good driver and hoped we would make it. Everything turned out fine, and we made it to Walmart in one piece...

  2. Oh man, I could not be happier to hear someone else I know utilizing the great campground of America: WalMart. Everyone laughed at me when I did it.
