Spread the word...

As many of you know, in March of '09, my Dad was diagnosed with a very rare neurological disorder called Progressive Supranuclear Palsy ("PSP"). The disease affects approximately 20,000 adults in the United States, with an initial onset of symptoms in the mid 60's. Unfortunately, my Dad was only 57 when he was diagnosed. At this time, there is no cure or effective treatment to slow or offset the progression of the disease. Much research is being completed and scientists believe they are closer than ever to understanding causes, genetic implications and possible treatment plans.

I was nominated to the Board of CurePSP last year, and since my Dad's diagnosis, we have been able to raise both awareness and considerable funds to help researchers find a cure. My friends, family and I have organized several fundraising running races and I am participating in the 2012 Madison Ironman in support of PSP. Collectively, we have raised over $30,000. We have decided to continue these efforts throughout the country by visiting every MLB park.

As a family, we have always enjoyed baseball, and my Mom, Dad and I thought this would be an incredible way to spend a summer. In April, I left my job in Chicago so I could focus on this exclusively. Many of you have expressed interest in attending a game with us along the way. If you haven’t emailed me yet and would like to meet up with us, send me an email at jamesjustinshea@gmail.com so I can figure out tickets, etc. I’ve attached a copy of our schedule.

  2. I found your site through a friend on Facebook. How freaking amazing. Nothing brings a family together like baseball :-)

    Good luck on the journey,
